History
The Ukrainian National Platform was established on January 29, 2011, and operates within the framework of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum – a multinational platform of civil society organizations from the Eastern Partnership countries, EU member states, European and international networks.
The platform aims to actively inform Ukrainian citizens, civil society, politicians, civil servants, and entrepreneurs about the EU’s Eastern Partnership program, as well as to monitor and examine key policies in terms of the modernization potential of reforms related to European integration processes. The goal of the National Platform is to strengthen the institutional capacity of public organizations to influence the reform agenda and international policy of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian National Platform stands for:
- intensive cooperation of Ukraine with all European institutions;
- the need to establish a public authority responsible for European integration or to authorize an existing one;
- consistent implementation of European integration as a fundamental and priority area of public policy.
The Ukrainian National Platform, like the Civil Society Forum, operates within five working thematic platforms, called working groups (WGs), which, in turn, reflect the official thematic platforms of the Eastern Partnership:
WG 1. Democracy, human rights, good governance, and stability
WG 2. Economic integration and coherence with EU policy
WG 3. Environment, climate change, and energy security
WG 4. Contacts between people
WG 5. Social and labor policy and social dialogue
