The training “AI for NGOs: New Opportunities on the Path to Success” was held online on November 25-26, 2025. The format allowed to attract participants from different regions of Ukraine.
The training is designed to increase the organizational capacity of public organizations through practical mastery of artificial intelligence tools for analytics, visualization, document creation, communications, fundraising and workflow automation. The focus is on the applied use of AI, individual cases of organizations and the ability to integrate digital tools into the daily work of NGOs.
Training goal: To develop basic and practical skills in using modern AI tools to improve operational efficiency, communications, analytics, and fundraising.
Key outcomes. After the training, participants will be able to:
- Use AI for administrative tasks, planning, document management.
- Apply AI in project work (concepts, intervention logics, reports).
- Create analytical texts and visual materials using AI.
- Strengthen advocacy and communication campaigns.
- Understand how to integrate AI into the daily processes of the organization.
- Work safely: ethics, digital security, AI use policy.
Training Program and Logic
The first day was dedicated to getting acquainted with the basic capabilities of AI and tools relevant to NGOs (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Napkin, NotebookLM, Canva AI, Grammarly, etc.). Participants saw how these services can be used to search and analyze information, prepare texts, structure materials, and create visual products. The ethical and security aspects of using AI, the risks of errors, and inaccurate information were separately considered.
The second day was more practical and focused on project activities, fundraising, and communications. Participants worked with examples of problem analysis and intervention logic, formed project goals and SMART results, tried to prepare fragments of applications, analytical notes, and reports using AI. Methods for creating presentations, infographics, and visual materials for social networks were also demonstrated. The session concluded with a discussion about barriers and plans for implementing AI in the work of specific organizations.
Trainers: Alla Kozhyna and Svitlana Markina (CSO “Institute of Public Strategies”, members of WG4 UNP)
The training demonstrated a high demand from civil society organizations for practical knowledge about the use of AI and confirmed that even a relatively short training course can yield tangible quantitative and qualitative results. The training was an important step towards ensuring that the use of AI in Ukrainian CSOs is not random and episodic, but more systematic, conscious and ethical, and that organizations are more capable in analytical, project and communication work.
