On May 9, 2024, a response was received to Appeal to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine regarding the need to open access to the primary data of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center on atmospheric air quality in Ukraine.
From this answer, we learned about the significant progress achieved by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. In particular,
- UkrHMC applied to the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine with an Application for registration on the Unified State Web Portal of Open Data;
- UkrHMC and CSO are conducting appropriate work on bringing the information received from the monitoring network of the hydrometeorological service to the necessary data formats in order to publish it not only on the Unified state portal of open data, but also on the Unified ecological platform “EkoSystema”;
- As of May 1, 2024, data sets already uploaded to the Unified State Web Portal of Open Data are being checked (moderated) by an authorized person of the Ministry of Digitization for compliance with the requirements specified in the Regulations on Data Sets.
These are not just any moves in the right direction, which we sincerely welcome. We greatly appreciate the efforts of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center and hope to soon see the final result of this work – datasets on atmospheric air quality in Ukraine in open data format on the Unified State Open Data Portal.
